Films for Frightfest August 2015

Post by ChrisReynolds »

Post your suggestions or guesses for films at this years main Frightfest event.

Five that I think have a high likelihood of being there:
Crimson Peak - Pan's Labyrinth played Frightfest, Guillermo del Toro likes Frightfest, so this seems like a good bet.
Sinister 2 - The first Sinister played very well and C. Robert Cargill was at last years festival.
Human Centipede 3 - Seems like it's been around the corner for ages.
German Angst - Alan Jones praised this in his Postcards from the Berlinale.
Krampus - Christmas horror from the director of Trick 'r Treat. Right timeframe for the festival and Trick 'r Treat played back in 2009.

Surely crimson peak is LFF level, I would have thought that's opening/closing night at LFF tbh...

The Witch

This got great reviews at sundance. A nice little creepy film with menacing undertones. Sounds great ;0)

Human Centipede III will be out on US VOD by May, so seems unlikely for the fest? Maybe not, if there's no UK release before then.

Anyway, here's the teaser:

Wouldn't mind any of these..

The Dark Below (one location, little dialogue film about a girl surviving under the ice with a killer waiting above, micro budget indie horror)
The Gallows (looks creepy as hell, a lot of buzz ahead release)
Harbinger Down ('real' creature SFX film starring Lance Henrikson, made by Alec Gillis, legend in the SFX industry)
Dark Star: H.R Giger's World (documentary about the life and work of 'Alien' creator H.R Giger)
The Visit (M Night Shyamalan's latest horror, sounds intriguing. Its release date is September so will be just in time for a screening at FF2015, maybe too mainstream though?)
Howl (would love this but might not be ready in time, but this sounds entertaining - about a werewolf attacking commuters trapped on a broken down train)

ANY of those would be perfect team FrightFest! Thanks!

Have a look at the trailer for The Visit from The Sixth Sense Director. Looks like a proper Horror.
Hope we get that for August.....

I know its done the festival circuits in some places, but i would LOVE to see (more than likely in the discovery screen) SUBURBAN GOTHIC. They had EXCISION at the Halloween one one year and i think this would go down well hopefully.

Maggie is out on US Theatrical on 8th May, I'd be surprised if it hasn't had a UK release well before August.
