Alejandro Amenábar - Tesis, The Others - is back in the genre:

When young Angela (played by Emma Watson) accuses her father John Gray (played by David Dencik) of an unthinkable crime, detective Bruce Kenner (played by Ethan Hawke) is brought in to investigate. The unraveling is seemingly more than anyone could have ever imagined, as when Gray admits to his actions, a more intense nationwide mystery begins to present itself while John is being prompted to relive the situation thanks to the help of renowned psychologist Dr. Raines (played by David Thewlis).
The horror thriller film, titled Regression, was directed by Alejandro Amenábar, as it is scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 28.

Looking at last year, almost half the main screen films were mentioned in the Cannes postcards, so that list is probably going to be the best indicator of what could be showing.DJBenz wrote:Get you with the crystal ball.ChrisReynolds wrote:Most likely for Frightfest

Having just come out of KNOCK KNOCK I can only say that we've had a lucky escape.... Roth back to his worst after what I thought was a return to some form with Green Infernoscoutthehorizon wrote:Also another sure fire, Eli Roth's KNOCK KNOCK has now got a June 26th Release Date set. So that's vetoed.
What about FF alumni Johannes Roberts' new one THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOOR
or old FF regular Adam Mason's new found footage home invasion riff HANGMAN.

I want to see this "Circle of Death" everyone keeps talking about.
Sounds terrifying.

Top of my list. The director Victoria Franz is the spouse of Ulrich Seidl who is the producer and an Austrian master in the "feel bad movie" section. I could recommend "Dog Days" and "Paradise Trilogy" - Horror in a different sense, like the daring films of German directors during Krautrock age (Herzog, Wenders, Fassbinder).Critter Egg wrote:This looks creepy and is apparently doing the festival circuits:

Maybe this type of film is comparable with "Alleluia" from last year, which I also enjoyed a lot.

Very much the same, Alex. But my screen represents some brutal clashes to have to decide on.
Gut reaction top 5 are (in no order):
SOME KIND OF HATE
SUMMER CAMP
TALES OF HALLOWEEN
THE HALLOW
HELLIONS
