DUKE MITCHELL @ FILM4 FRIGHTFEST 2015

Post by EvrimErsoy »

Hey everyone;

Evrim here - once again - to give you a little bit more on the two slots at the Discovery Screen and hopefully to entice you to come along - first the details are as follows:

PHOENIX ARTIST CLUB DISCOVERY SCREEN:

8.30PM - SATURDAY 29TH - DUKE MITCHELL - REMAKE, REMIX, RIP-OFF -

10.45PM - SATURDAY 29TH
THE DUKE @ FRIGHTFEST FILM PARTY: THE SEQUEL!

So - a little bit about both;

REMIX REMAKE RIP-OFF;

A very personal choice for me as it not only will introduce Western audiences to the genre madness I grew up with but also remind people the infinite passionvariety in films and filmmaking which is universal - like last year's COHERENCE, rather than rattle on , here are some reviews to hopefully convince you to come along:

INDIEWIRE: Remake, Remix, Rip Off' ... stands a wonderfully fond, funny memorial to a lovably outlaw national film industry and the cowboys, pirates, and celluloid bandits who populated it.

VARIETY: Raucous, rowdy ... “Remake, Remix, Rip-off” marks a noble albeit disorganized effort to convey the appeal of vintage Turkish pop cinema to the world at large. As with the sensory-overload Ozploitation docu “Not Quite Hollywood,” admission is worth it for the clips alone...

HOLLYWOOD REPORTER: Often gloriously low-tech in terms of production values and hazardous in terms of on-set safety standards, these unofficial, unauthorized copies are wittily and extensively excerpted. Kaya socks over volleys of cheesy action, steamy romance and eye-popping sci-fi, with every genre inescapably peppered with fisticuffs.

CUTPRINTFILM: Particularly amusing are the numerous anecdotes from prominent Turkish directors and actors about the absurd, seat-of-the-pants methods used to produce these films. Imagine the movies you and your buddies might have made as kids with your parents’ camcorders, except these were made by paid adults who were producing them at a rate of two or three a month

This will be a very rare chance to see the film in London on the big screen so please come along!

THE DUKE @ FRIGHTFEST FILM PARTY: THE SEQUEL!

Once again, the party is back! What's different this year? There's more guests, more special clips, trailers and previews, more prizes and hopefully more fun - we've been very lucky in securing some super-special previews this year - some stuff only finished shooting last week!

Also - we've taken on board the criticism from last year: whilst the format of the party ; more talkshow than anything else ; restricts us - we will keep trying to have the audience more involved - I'd like to stress that this is all inclusive fun - a way for us to share the excitement of the films we love, the films we keep making and to find out more about the tastes of the directors, actors, producers and more that are behind the films at Frightfest - what films do they love? what made them appreciate the genre?

So come along, get your tickets and go on a wild ride on the Saturday night!

Thanks a lot and see you next week!

I'm having to miss Saturday this year, which is a real shame, because you found a real gem with Coherence last year, and I was looking forward to seeing what you would offer us this time around. I hope Remake, Remix, Rip Off is a massive success.

RRR sounds a lot of fun, count me in for that one.

Yeah, posted the wrong one.

That clip was wonderful, as was Nacho's introduction to it.
