Howl

Post by GeorgeCaplin »

Thought I would create a thread for this one, as I was surprised it wasn't being discussed already.

Packed in the splice screen.

Really enjoyed this, very Dog Soldiers esque.

Did have it's problems - The ending (no spoilers) felt a bit rushed, tacked on and abrupt. There were maybe too many moments in which the passengers, sorry dog food, were ego stroking eachother. Apart from that though I thoroughly enjoyed the (train) ride and story.

The werewolves (sorry, spoiler) were interestingly designed, not my usual cup of tea but they became more interesting than the humans due to the direction. The shots of them in packs going down the train carriages were extremely cool.

The cast did a great job as well in being their different, yet film generic, characters.

I was not taken by the trailer when it was shown at the Glasgow FF in February but I thought I'd take a punt anyway as I like werewolves.

Didn't drag, wasn't over long and didn't outstay its welcome.

Thought the effects and the nods to John Carpenter were spot on.

Very enjoyable.
