Food & Booze in Shepherd's Bush

Post by mydogminton »

Having worked just up the road from Shepherd's Bush Green for 10 years I thought I'd offer a quick brain dump of some food & drink options in the vicinity of Vue Shepherd's Bush.

There's plenty of variety (both style and quality) in the area and I'm not suggesting these are the best or only options. They're just places I'm aware of that are popular with some of our office.

Amigos Burgers & Shakes
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Ami ... 28407,17z/
Predictably, this place does burgers and milkshakes. They're good.

Chop Chop
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Cho ... 228407,17z
Cheap and not-so-cheerful Chinese & Thai. Good food. Don't expect great service.

Woody Grill
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Cho ... 228407,17z
Well loved kebab & grill place.

Mr Falafel
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Mr+ ... -0.2247397
Huge, excellent falafel wraps. Perhaps best falafel in London? (Closed Sunday)

Al Forno
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Al+ ... 226981,19z
Italian place with some seating outside. Never been there but always looks nice.

Pizza Express
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Piz ... 236024,17z
You know what this is. I've only included it because it's hidden away behind the cinema and I didn't realised it was there until recently.

Brew Dog
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Bre ... 244522,17z
Bar. Great beer. Some very strong. Also does really good burgers and wings.

The Defectors Weld
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/The ... 244522,17z
Pub that thinks it's in Shoreditch. Good range of booze. 2-for-1 cocksails 5-7 and all Sunday evening if that's your thing. Food is reasonably good. Service can be slow.

The Green
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/The ... 244522,17z
Normal pub. Perhaps the closest thing to The Imperial around Shepherd's Bush Green. By which I mean it's a little basic and the toilets aren't great. But it's quite a reasonable place.

Sindercombe Social
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Sin ... 251706,19z
Large, relaxed, modern pub. Food looks alright.

Westfield
Yes, it's a horrible, big shiny shopping centre with all the atmosphere of... well the toilets in The Imperial. But it actually has a reasonable range of food places (both in the food court 1st floor by the atrium in the middle and the "South Terrace", the outside that runs from Shepherd's Bush station all the way round to Wood Lane). Includes Wahaca, Zizzi, Wagamama, Bills, Five Guys, Real Greek, Leon, GBK etc).

Hammersmith Street Food market
If you can be bothered to travel a stop or two on the tube, or walk down Shepherd's Bush Road, there's a really good street food market on Fridays outside The Lyric Theatre. Stalls run from around 12-2pm.

I love food recommendations, because I love food. Very much looking forward to hunting out Mr Falafel, from that list. I'm never sure about a ton of burgers at Frightfest - I have too many memories of BK lunch and dinner running back and forth from the Empire in the inevitable rain!

That Roosters Piri Piri on the front does some very nice, fresh made burgers if you're in a hurry. Ate there between films tonight and it was lovely.

Might try the Aroma Oriental Buffet tonight on the first floor of W12.

It was busy in there last night which is always a good sign and £14.99 all you can eat will do me!

Someone posted on Facebook the other day that it was awful. Seen a fair few 'festers in there so it can't be all bad.

Ate in Aroma last night. Food was good. I was disappointed I couldn't find the room to eat any more.

We followed this recommendation and it was indeed really good and freshly made while we waited! We were idiots and walked straight past it a few times (and went over to the main Westfield thinking it was over there) to find it, initially, but it was worth the hunt. Thanks!

You're welcome. :) I've eaten in there three times now, always good.

Have also tried Amigos as recommended in the first post (cross the road, go left and carry on down there and you'll come to it) and it was similarly good.
