Perfectly summed up! Although as good as neither I thought... but it really did live up to the spirit of the original in its stilted acting, leaden pace and impact-free gore.

It was the that "would you like to see me with cum on my face?" line that did it for me. Forget the tongue ripping and willy chopping, that's what will stay with me over the coming (sorry) years. Worst film of the festival so far but it did make me chuckle at times.

I quite enjoyed it, but the terrible dialog kind of spoiled it. I like the original (and the recent sequel too) but I'm not sure this one is going to be thought of as a classic. It did have some fun scenes though. And yes, that eye compliment one will probably be quoted in Frightfests for the next 10 years.

Another waste of time and couldn't even be saved by the gore. Best comedy moment of the weekend so far though.
Theme this fest in the main screen at least seems to be bad acting and this had it in spades. Avoid

Jut truly awful from start to finish and in every department. Why the hell was this on in the main screen at the expense of films in the Disco screens that sold out in no time (e.g. The Love Witch)

Only 90 minutes long, but felt like it went on for hours. Laughable performances and dialogue especially from the daughter and friends. What on earth did Robert Rusler think he was doing with his ridiculous mannered performance ?

Kill scenes were unpleasantly nasty and not fun at all, even though I didn't give a shit about any of the characters. Botched nothing of an ending, I was at least hoping that all of the annoying family would get shot by the milksop cop, and that he would somehow die himself.

This was just... I don't know where to start.

Right from the get-go the family were completely unbelievable (which I know is the least of its problems, but the daughter looked like a 30 year old playboy playmate rather than a - presumably? - late-teen uni student), they kept smacking the audience over the head with the "we aren't in Paris, we're in the suburbs!" context, but showed more shots of Paris than anything! It might as well have been just set in the States for all of the effort the filmmakers made to have the actors even attempt one or two lines of French ("Hello, we need a tow truck please, to Ramses Diner" :s ), whyyyyyy didn't the mum or daughter hear anything from Faud's torture-shrine down in the storage cupboard presumably under the flat/diner?! Argh!!

It did have some of the best, hilariously unintentional dialogue of the weekend though ("I thought you were asleep", "Not any more!" ), so it went down relatively well as the last film in Horror because we all just laughed at it from start to finish. But from what others have said it sounds like it's a shame it ended up as a main-screen film when there were other much, much better Disco films which would have been far worthier main screen offerings.

As already mentioned poor acting and dialogue hampered this one, while the plot was nothing special either. However, arguably the biggest fault was after the hype around the level of gore this was actually limited to just a few scenes anyway.

Still, I thought the main lead was OK, while the scene with the broken down girl is unlikely to be forgotten in a hurry!

4.5 / 10

was the original set in france or anything? i spent most of the film confused as to why they were pretending to be in france when the cast had german accents, the menus were in german, the billboards outside were in german, and the cars in the carpark had german plates. it just seemed like it would have been easier to say they were americans who had move to outside berlin rather than paris.

I hated it. I was expecting trashy nonsense but I wasn't expecting total incompetence. The broken-down driver scene was hilarious but it - and the gore scenes - felt more like porn than horror (I know it's very much personal opinion, but I found the violence in this one unpleasant rather than entertaining).

And note to the director, if you're going to pad out your film with endless soap-opera dialogue ("I only made fun of you when you were with those other guys because deep down I always wanted you to be with me...", etc), then try hiring some professional actors instead of roping in half a dozen of your hungover buddies from the nightclub.

Awful. Pitiful in every respect. Must also set the record for the most gratuitous shots of the eiffel tower in one feature film. ITS IN FRANCE we get it ok!!!

This.

Had Tulpa screaming through my head most of the time. Amongst a sea of unbelievablility the most ridiculous thing is that they found a region in France where people are willing to speak anything other than French.
