The Love Witch

Post by ChrisReynolds »

This must be one of the most acutely controlled films ever, with the director, Anna Biller, hand sewing the costumes, making the paintings, and crafting all the set decorations over the course of seven years.
The technicolor film and the colours that fill every frame are a pleasure to watch, however after a while I started to want more meat to the plot, but it rambles around remaining fairly low key. The story could have been told in twenty minutes, so two hours was completely unnecessary, but it's so nice to look at that I could never dislike it. People who enjoy movies just for the photography will indeed love this film, but for me it was more like The Mild-like Witch.
