8/10 - Ermagerd, a scary movie at FF17. The fans are revolting (well it is day 5)! Personally, this worked well enough that I'd have left out the 'extra scare' at the end and just played it straight. Also, I kept assuming that Mother was going to show up at the house for wacky mistaken identity shenanigans... but not to be.

As Alan indicated before the film it is a very commercial horror, but it does a good job of doing what it set out to achieve. It made my hairs stand on end several times and there were some genuinely creepy moments. I enjoyed the guessing game
Spoiler:
of whether there really was a demon or if Mary was simply mad.
An effective chiller. 8 / 10

Great film possibly my second best of the festival, with some great scares !

Gosh, this had every cliche in the book. Unfeasibly wealthy good-looking young couple, big (and always dimly-lit) house, a frightened woman no-one believes, a husband away on totally-unavoidable business, creepy noises on baby alarms, creepy images on CCTV, an older previous victim with a cassette player and a handy reference book on demonology...

For me it tipped over the edge in that scene where she suddenly went all Stepford and started cooking pancakes, thereafter it was just too silly for words.

Having said all that, it was the only film of the entire weekend which actually had a creepy atmosphere and felt unnerving at times, even though it was all stuff we've seen many times before. So kudos to them for that.

This was one I planned on skipping but I couldn't get the discovery ticket.
I ended up really enjoying this in the end. There was some quite funny bits of dialogue and some really creepy parts. This was my biggest surprise of the festival, mainly because I expected it to be total shite from the write up.

Scary, well acted but daft. A film about babies made by twenty somethings who have never seen one.
Why not just bring it into the parental bed like everyone else in the world would do?
Some cliches such as the haunted baby monitor (still works)
The usual old book with woodcut illustrations of the demon. Where are people supposed to get these from?
How near did she live to the hospital?
