Death Laid an Egg

In among the premieres, it's good to see something old once in a while. This is a bizarre curio of Italian genre cinema, maybe a proto-giallo, but more of a satire/thriller/not sure what the hell to call it... how to balance running a chicken farm with a sideline in prostitute slaying. The plot is a little hard to follow in terms of the central love triangle, but one thing that does hit home is the fear of GM food and the darker side of mass production. Only really for the diehards this one and I can easily see why it slipped into obscurity: it's very slow-paced and the relentless, discordant jazz piano soundtrack is enough to do anyone's head in! 6/10
