It looks like the forum's pretty dead these days...

I was wondering which films people were most looking forward to in Glasgow?

Raw is at the top of my list, it seems to have made some waves on the festival circuit. Detour looks like it'll be a fun ride - which might be needed, because a couple of the others sound pretty heavy!

I'm gutted I can't stay for all the films, especially the 2 late-nighters. Happy Hunting & The Night of the Virgin sound awesome... Plus last year saved the best til last with Patchwork & The Devil's Candy 😉

Raw for me too. Although I'm always a sucker for a decent shark movie! I must admit I don't know too much about most of the films, so I'm hoping for some pleasant (should that be suitably horrific?) surprises!

A surprise is always nice :)

I haven't booked a ticket for Cage Dive...just because it's on early. I'm a fan of found footage / mock doc when it's done well...might change my mind & book!

In order of my excitement from most to least:
SHIN GODZILLA - I love the Godzilla films and everybody who's seen this says it's one of the best
A CURE FOR WELLNESS - Gore Verbinski's The Ring was a rare good remake and he can definitely handle creepiness well
DETOUR - I've liked all of Chris Smith's films, and I'm excited to see what he does with the neo-noir genre
THE NIGHT OF THE VIRGIN - The teaser trailer for this was hilarious. Looks like a good way to round off the festival
FASHIONISTA - Simon Rumley has done some good work in the past with Red White and Blue and The Living and the Dead
HOUNDS OF LOVE - The write-up for this makes it sound good, it's got some buzz from the festivals
IT STAINS THE SANDS RED - I like the high concept of a zombie chasing a woman in the desert. Interested to see how they develop the story.
HAPPY HUNTING - Latest version of The Most Dangerous Game. The directors don't have much of a track record but the concept has proven its durability
THE TRANSFIGURATION - I don't have any opinion on this
BLOODLANDS - Nor on this.
THE WARRIOR’S GATE - Not a horror film and I hope it can avoid the "white saviour" trope, but Hoene did a good job with Cockneys vs Zombies
CAGE DIVE - I feel shark movies and found footage both need a rest at the moment, but the recent Unfriended and The Shallows showed there's still potential in these genres

PHANTASM and RAW I've already seen.

I would say: don't get your hearts set on loving Raw, it's a strong directorial and and artistic vision, but I think the lack of logic will be a turn-off for some people, in the same way that last year's Baskin was divisive. Also, the hype about people fainting from the horror does the film a disservice: the film isn't centred around shock moments and is only about average horror levels for Frightfest.
