Ok, so I am slightly biased, but this is the film of the fest for me so far...

An amazing achievement for only £100k. The acting all across the board is brilliant, and it's great to see such a dark British horror laced with subtle humour. Bloody family...

Really happy to have seen this with a paying and proper audience because I feel like I've been following the film for a while and have met the director a couple of times now.

I can't wait to see what happens when the Daily Mail connects this film to the BBC licence fee.

I'd rather they spend the licence fee on original movies like this one than by paying some "star" a ridiculous sum to front yet another chat show or paid to some talentless chav in a soap (which is my definition of true horror...) The Daily Mail of course will be outraged ... marvellous ... no change there then

Actually in this case I don't think the class thing is quite that simple. For one thing they don't menace a middle class person but rather an immigrant. So in a way it's Hostel in reverse, with the Eastern European tortured by "us". IMHO Eden Lake presented ALL working class characters in a negative light. The family in Mum &Dad on the other hand are presented as abnormal, much like the family in Chainsaw

You're totally right about Eden Lake but I didn't mean that they were completely similar to Eden Lake. Just a menace.

And at least two of Mum and Dad's family were not immigrants, so I think that was just down to ease of access rather than any implicit racism.

Of course, they were a very welcoming family, good old working class values ...

now it was interesting how much Matyrs had been hyped as being extreme and disturbing, and this had received little hype, because after watching it, I definitely think Mum & Dad was a more extreme film than Matyrs.

This really did work well - dark, twisted and disturbing, but at the same time laced with a very British dark humour. The whole Christmas scene was one of the most fked up things I've ever seen, not gonna forget that in a hurry!

The christmas decorations are a work of pure genius.

Easily one of my faves of the fest.
