just saw the pilot for jj abrams 'fringe'... shows promise, nowhere near the quality of the pilots for 'lost' or 'alias' though... very x-files esque with a few twists on the genre and it could be really good as long as it doesn't descend into the typical monster of the week show... fairly high hopes for this one...

I liked it enough to give it a few more episodes to develop a personality, but it's very derivative not just of the X Files (which is the obvious touchstone) but also of Ken Russell's Altered States from which it swipes the floatation tank stuff. I'm pinning my hopes on Dollhouse

finally got round to starting the 5th season of Nip/Tuck

If you have avoided this show before then shame on you. Its the deepest darkest american high concept soap.
The procedures are often as gory as heck and the twisted plots can approach ludicrous levels.
Its a show that has you yelping "no dont do THAT", or cringing with fond embarrasment for the characters.
This season is taking a while to get going tho with a lolita type college girl's manipulations not nearly as engaging as Serial Killer Plastic Surgeons, Organ Stealing Escorts or crazed drug dealers.
Of note this season features old Anthony Hickox regular Paula Marshall.

Dexter
And Lo she didst appear at last. Jamie Murray's first appearance in Dexter.
Its pretty odd hearing her london accent amongst all thse american ones, however she clearly has strong chemistry with Dex.
Debs isnt handling her Ice Truck Killer incident as well as she would like. The more screen time Debs gets is all good with me.
Rita is becoming a bit of a drag though.

Batisita and Gloria are fast becoming even more redundant but Doakes is going from strength to strength and becoming a strange form of comic relief in a way.

This is one adaptation that is superior to its source.

Really enjoying S2 of Dexter after (foolishly, it seems) giving up with S1 of the show... will talk about it in my next blog.

Just read today that Harvey Keitel has been cast as Gene Hunt for the US version of Life On Mars, replacing Colm Meaney who played the role in the pilot episode.
First things first, stay calm.

with two episodes left season 2 of Dexter is starting to ramp things up.

Jaime Murray is bonkers, Doakes is in serious trouble, Lundy is getting cooler by the day and Dexter is facing some very dark revelations.

If seaason 3 of Prison Break was a little slow the first half of the double episode season 4 opener moves at light speed.
Dark as darkest peru at points this feels just like the PB we got to really love in season 2. The romance between michael and Sarah is still convincing and sweet.

other than these the TV world is a bleak little place at the moment.

Saw the first episode of True Blood while I was in Toronto, it's the new vampire series from the creator of Six Feet Under starring Anna Paquin.

Will review it in my next TV Eye... not a stellar debut but it could have potential, I need to give it a few more episodes...

Like the first series of Dexter but had it ruined by some plank who told me the ending. Watched the 1st episode of the second series, but want to read the book first.

Just finished watching the new Ugly Betty (not that you will be interested, but tis good!) and still have Tin Man to watch, but wasn't convinced by the 1st episode. I think it will have to be one that needs a repeat viewing. I am also contemplating watching The Wire, as everyone keeps raving about it.

Apparently the TV show is quite different from the book (especially season 2...)

I read the first book after I watched the series, and found that I enjoyed the book alot more. I've got the second book to read. I will confess I started on it, loved the bit when he is cutting the mans fingers off within the first chapter, but then got sidelined with some book my mum told me "you have to read!"

Starting tonight on FX is Burn Notice - new series co-starring Bruce Campbell. http://www.fxuk.com/series/burn-notice/

And tomorrow night on ITV4 is Sanctuary. http://www.sanctuaryforall.com/
New sci-fi drama series using live-action actors against virtual sets. In the first of a two-part episode, a psychiatrist is introduced to the mysterious Sanctuary by the 157-year-old physician Dr Magnus, who reveals all about her quest to track, study and protect the world's strangest creatures.

Just finished watching Season 2 of Dexter and absolutely adore the show - the writing, directing and cinematography is all bang on for my personal tastes, superb!

Have heard good things about The Middleman but dont see a DVD release date yet - has anyone seen it?

So much to try and cover at the moment!

Sorry for the delay, I am going to try and get my next TV Eye blog written this coming weekend... will cover True Blood, Prison Break, No Heroics and Entourage I think...

After that, Heroes, Fringe (just watched the first episode - quite enjoyable, like a revamped X Files), Burn Notice... and will try the first ep of Sanctuary this week too!
First things first, stay calm.
