Accommodation in Glasgow for FF 2010
Accommodation in Glasgow for FF 2010
Hi this is a general shout out to the previous Glasgow Frightfesters - am thinking of attending the FF in Glasgow in feb and would like to ask if anyone can recommend a hotel near to the cinema(s) screening the FF.
Cheap and cheerful would be great - also I dont know what time it usually starts ie. is it better to turn up on the thursday eve so I will be ready for the event the next day?
Was thinkin about staying for 2 nights - the fri and sat then go home on the sunday (I live 30 miles north of london) - also if anyone knows what the car parking situation is like as I was thinking of driving up..... costs, potential problems ...etc
Basically any info so I can book a hotel and work out whether its better/cheaper to drive or go by train/air would be very much appreciated as I am on a tight budget - lol
Thanking you all in advance

no
Last year a LOT of us booked in at the quality hotel attached to the main station, to find out that due to the downturn it had closed its doors. The booking agents didn't even know. It took one eagle eyed forumite to spot a news story to say the hotel had closed.
I'm pretty sure there's a premier inn and travelodge near the main station which is walkable from the cinema but not sure of the details. I'm not booking till I know I'm going though.

I got the Hilton last year for £40 a night but that was booking direct thru them with some super saver deal. That's about ten mins walk away from the cinema.
We need the Glasgow equivalent of HHH don't we?
I am off work this week so I will have a search round and see what I can find.

Right, here are a few options - note: as I live in Glasgow I've actually never checked out the places but hey, I guess they should be fine with a bunch of blood splattered maniacs jumping around ;-)
Jury's Inn: http://glasgowhotels.jurysinns.com/
Radisson SAS http://www.radissonblu.co.uk/hotel-glasgow
Buchanan Hotel: http://www.strathmorehotels.com/buch_site/index.htm
Ibis Glasgow City Centre: http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-313 ... ndex.shtml
Novotel Glasgow Centre: http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-313 ... ndex.shtml
The Thistle Hotel Glasgow: http://www.thistle.com/hotels/united_ki ... index.html
and there is the slightly more budget option of the Euro Hostel: http://www.euro-hostels.co.uk/glasgow?g ... 4wodcAJ3MA

Thanks
I have checked out the Holiday Inn Express in theatreland - dont know if its near to the FF or not but it seems to be pretty central ( some indication of which cinema would be helpful) but it is a room cost basis - I anticipate 2 of us going so it works out at about £36 each per night - plus I have to pay £10 per day for parking....
Have pre booked it ( they dont charge your card until you go - also u can cancel a few days before for no charge ) so I can have it as a backup in case somewhere more suitable doesn't appear...
Thanks
