"ANYTHING" by Dario Argento except Suspiria which is truly excellent.

Over the last 30 years having watched about 90% of his films on the grounds that i loved Suspiria the only positive thing i can say is that the underwater bit in "Inferno" was a bit creepy....... everything else, just laugh out loud awful.

And the underwater bit was the only section he didn't actually film himself! :?

Lord Of The Rings Oh Please, hobbits and wizards and god knows what else. And it runs for about 12 hours. No thanks

Nightmare On Elm Street This never captured me in the way Friday the 13th did, or to a lesser extent, Halloween. Vorhees - unstoppable psycho, Myers - unstoppable psycho. Freddie - skinny burnt freak in a stripy top. Hmm.

Hellraiser I found this incredibly boring

Sorry, I know so many people love this film (just look how much money it's made) but I cannot think of one part of the film that I couldn't see coming a mile away.

Um, isn't that the whole point of it being in 3D?

It was in 3D? I thought the projector was faulty.

Aaah it makes sense now. So THAT'S why they were giving out free glasses by the door. I thought the local Glaucoma Group were having a day-trip.

LOL, sorry bowled an easy hit there.

Actually I completely agree on Avatar, the speech by Givanni Ribisi "this little rock is UNOBTANIUM! It is EXPENSIVE! This is WHY we are HERE!" was extrutiatingly patronising to the audience.

I enjoyed it on a fairground attraction level, but as a film it was mediocre.

I can't beleive Cameron is releasing a longer version.

Oh lord, don't get me started on Tim Sullivan.

I know this thread is about films everyone loves except you, therefore I don't think his films qualify, but I really really detested 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams - particularly after that bitchy rant about Avatar and James Cameron. Not the way to win friends and influence people...

I suppose it's only his opinion however there is also a train of thought that says only give your opinion if asked for it.

So what started as a Q & A about his film turned into something much more. That said I did think he had a good personality and was a good FF guest overall and is passionate about his horror and supporting it.

Anyway let's not get this off topic...

The Hurt Locker- Straight US Army propaganda, a series of disjointed set pieces instead of a story, and an overzealous pat on the back from the Academy.
Unrealistically brave, bright and whiter than white American boys doing a difficult job in a dangerous world- I get the point, and fair enough maybe it's a tale that needs telling, but what about the many other sides to the story: collaterol dammage, friendly fire, Abu Grabe, Blackwater, the CIA, flawed elections and corrupt police, a rise in fundamentalism and a deterioration in gender equality, looting and profiteering, army recruitment policy, oil. These and many other pertinent issues, conspicuous by their absense, betray the true agenda of this shocking piece of self congratulatory puff.
The War in Iraq badly needs an honest film of the caliber of Platoon, Full Metal Jacket or Apocalypse Now- and this is not it, it felt more like six incomplete episodes of Tour of Duty shown in the wrong order.
America likes to remember, and on occasion rewrite, it's history through film, and all those Oscars will make this film an irresponsible benchmark for how mainstream America will reflect on it's involvement in the middle east. Offensive, even if it was enjoyable viewing.

Antichrist- Oh for fuck's sake, can anyone explain this one to me? Real shagging, cock smashing, clit snipping, blood spunking, cod psychology, a miscarrying dear and a talking fox.
Two superb actors work hard to tease something out of a thin and nonsensical script, and stunning vistas with snow in slow motion do not constitute "cinematography".
Dafoe's character's haphazard attempts at professional psychiatric advice seem to consist entirely of learning how to breathe and not be scared of the grass, while Gainsbourg's obtuse blend of despair and evil leaves a character so confused she just comes over as disconnected to the point of autism. Shock just for the sake of it isn't that brave and splitting a film into cryptically labelled chapters isn't that clever- and Tarrantino does both better.
Never have i found a film so visceral, shocking and, i concede, beautifully shot, so, so, so boring!
And the point? I'm sure there was one in there but maybe it happened while i was struggling to hold my eyes open.
I like Lars von Trier, The Idiots is a masterpiece and Dear Wendy is a personal favourite, but this was simply woefull.
I've come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum
