Piranha 3D (yay it's an 18 cert)
Hi all
Really looking forward to Piranha this week as at the FF the following week there's nothing 3D. Maybe if everyone wears the specs they get from Piranha throughout the fest, the organisers might take a hint for next year
So glad it's an 18 cert too.

thanks goodness should be fun
You're scared of mice and spiders, but oh-so-much greater is your fear that one day the two species will cross-breed to form an all-powerful race of mice-spiders, who will immobilize human beings in giant webs in order to steal cheese.

Loving the ads on telly for this, hope it does well and spawns some more bigger budget horrors
Thanks for the ride, sir.

It should be fun, but as it's a conversion job I'm going to see it in 2D.

Piranha 3D (yay it's an 18 cert)
Is it? The script was conceived for 3D. Bloody Dimension.streetrw wrote:It should be fun, but as it's a conversion job I'm going to see it in 2D.
Re: Piranha 3D (yay it's an 18 cert)
i thought it was always meant to be 3d rather than a conversion. regardless will see it in 3D

Piranha 3D (yay it's an 18 cert)
Like two RED cameras wouldn't be cheaper to buy never mind rent than traditional cameras. They've not given themselves enough time for the post process.
Re: Piranha 3D (yay it's an 18 cert)
It was a conversion, but not a rubbish one like Clash of the titans.
Due to constraints with 3D camera rigs, Aja shot Piranha in 2D and converted to 3D in post production using the reali-D conversion process developed by the company, Inner-D. Unlike other 3D converted films released in 2010, Piranha's conversion was not done as an afterthought, and it represents the first post-conversion process to be well received by critics.
Actually didn't think they went overboard with the 3d stuff really, but the massacre is brilliant fun! Except the girl near me didn't think so, she nearly passed out and then left wanting to be sick, she never returned!!!!!!

Je n'agree pas. The 3D was the weakest thing about it.

Piranha 3D (yay it's an 18 cert)
The Real 3D logo was brilliant. The 3D in the film was poor.
Re: Piranha 3D (yay it's an 18 cert)
Have to agree with people saying the 3d was poor, only times I ever really noticed it were gimmicky bits or when something just looked weird ... but once the Piranha actually started eating people I really enjoyed it. First 40 mins were a bit rubbish, but it was never going to be a masterpiece.
Re: Piranha 3D (yay it's an 18 cert)
I really enjoyed Piranha 3D but agree the whole 3D effect in this case didn't enhance the experience. I had that annoying feeling of constantly wanting to wipe the glasses or the screen to make things clear. For me so far only IMAX 3D delivers although checking out a demo of a 3D TV in Selfridges I'm pretty excited about the future of that.
The fact 3D TV uses active shutter glasses as opposed to the passive cinema ones means the effect is pretty impressive.

I dunno, I checked out this in Westfield at the weekend, and it just looked like gazing into an old Viewmaster to me. An minor illusion of depth with various flat planes stacked on top of one another. Not something I feel link investing £1800 for a new telly, £300 for a 3D Blu Ray player on.odishon wrote:The fact 3D TV uses active shutter glasses as opposed to the passive cinema ones means the effect is pretty impressive.
On the other hand I really enjoyed the 3D on Piranha (and I'm not generally a fan) it was cheesy but fun. However I have noticed that the 3D effect seems to vary from film to film enormously and I wonder if all screens are properly set up for it, and what effect the viewing angle has? Don't know if any of the film mags have tired a comparative survey, but they should.
There is no delight the equal of dread

Re: Piranha 3D (yay it's an 18 cert)
Finally saw this yesterday and loved it!
As long as you don't prod too much at parts of the plot, all's good! The gore did not disappoint. Why aren't Christopher Lloyd and Ving Rhames in all films, all the time?
As for the 3D, did the text of the opening credits hurt anybody else's eyes? It was literally painful, you had to squint at it... The friend that I went with said the same but then he bitches about all 3D ('oww, my retinas', 'my glasses aren't working - let me try yours... no, wait, I don't think yours work either, give me mine back...'), so wondering if it was the same for others?

"But what if one of you is the monster?"
