FF Predictions

Post by bounce08 »

Rue Morgue Jay did this thread last year so thought I'd start one again as this forum has died down a bit the last couple of weeks. Just predictions on different things for this year, last year I was way off predicting Banshee Chapter would go down well  I've used the same questions as last year...and added one.

The film that most people will be raving about by the end of the festival?
The Babadook / Open Windows

The GUILTY PLEASURE film of the festival?
Bad Milo / Wolfcop

The film that most people will be grumbling about by the end of the festival?
Nymph

The film most people missed and will be kicking themselves over?
Coherence

The 'over-hyped'- film of the festival?
The Green Inferno / The Samurai

The OMG film of the festival?
Digging Up the Marrow

The "WTF were the FF organisers thinking?!" film of the festival?
Nymph

Good call bounce08.

The film that most people will be raving about by the end of the festival?
"The Babadook" / "Alleluia" (got a real good feeling about this one..)

The GUILTY PLEASURE film of the festival?
"Zombeaver" / "Wolfcop"

The film that most people will be grumbling about by the end of the festival?
"Shockwave Darkside 3D"

The film most people missed and will be kicking themselves over
"Digging up the marrow"

The 'over-hyped'- film of the festival?
"Starry Eyes" / "Open windows"

The OMG film of the festival?
"The Samurai" / "R100"

The "WTF were the FF organisers thinking?!" film of the festival?
"Drew: The man behind the poster"
I'm sure it's a fine documentary, but it seems the strangest "left-field" choice for Frightfest since the Klingon film "Earthlings: Ugly bags of mostly water". Remember that?

Apologies for the double choices. I'm an indecisive sod.

COHERENCE
Slight aside, but I had an email from one of the USA publicity agencies we deal with which was publicising Coherence's release on US VOD services as of today (5th August), so I wonder if this means it will be viewable on US Netflix for UK viewers who use the workaround?

'Drew: The Man Behind The Poster' is actually a really good documentary about a really talented guy and well worth checking out.

COHERENCE is purchasable through US iTunes or from the film's website itself (self releasing) which is how I purchased it (IP Blocker set to USA required) at http://www.coherencethemovie.com

It's a devious little film that is guaranteed to marmite the audience.

Hi;

It's Evrim here from 'The Duke Mitchell Film Club' - very excited for FF 2014 - just wanted to say; 'Coherence' is well-worth seeing on the big screen and I'd like to encourage anyone who wants to see more unusual stuff at the festival to attend the screening if they can - 'Coherence' is my personal choice and it's a case of us trying to bring something a big more oddball into the mix - if people respond well to it and it shows, who knows this sort of thing might happen again.
So if you can spare a slot on Saturday night for us (or two, the party is going to be something else!) , do come along - we'd love your support in trying something a little more different!

I would HIGHLY second Evrim's recommendation, The Duke Mitchell takeover sure is going to be a blast. While COHERENCE doesn't necessitate a massive screen in my opinion, what it does require is a crowd to duke (mind the pun) it's themes and messages out over. You won't get a better crowd to do that with than the Duke / FrightFest troupe. Come get your quantum physics hats on, kids.

Do we need to buy a screening ticket for the party slot?

They are two seperate slots so like any other screening, you just need to get a screen for that Discovery slot. Think of it as a film slot but instead of a film we're going to...well that would be telling.
