Managed to get tickets in the end! Had to split my party up, which is a bummer, after the system kept provoking me into a near fatal rage. I'm off to the pub to regain my strength :)

Huge thanks to the frightfest guys for putting together a wonderful selection of films. So looking forward to the event that is always the highlight of my year.

Hope everyone that wants tickets is able to get them. See you all in the phoenix!

I'm similarly unimpressed. I really wanted to trust Ian when he said they were really impressed with how well the online system worked and that it could deal with big events, but after getting the dreaded spinner of doom/death/misery twice I have spent nearly three hours trying to get just one ticket.

It was like some kind of a nightmare, each time I got in, seeing less seats I'd conceivably want than the last time. Finally, when I did manage to buy my ticket it was for a seat I would never have wanted originally and wouldn't have had to resort to had I queued in the sleepy queue.

Depressing to think I'll have to go through this all again next year :(

Well..... I summed up the energy for a third time and I am now the proud owner of 2 tickets for the Horror Channel screen.

Considering I first got in around 12.15, its not a great performance by the ticketing company. I followed the advise of the forum and clicked the back button multiple times, (which actually took me back through the queueing page somehow) and selected the same seats again and it worked faultlessly,

Not sure a ticketing interface should have 'refresh' and 'cancel' buttons, this must surely be causing problems.

There were still quite a few seats left in the Horror Channel screen, at the front obviously, but still there.

Good luck all

Not happy...like many above, selected ticket and ended up with the circle for over 10 minutes, then chucked out back to beginning. Got last good seat in Horror screen an hour later but not as good as my original selection in the Film Four screen which was my preferred screen
When I can book a 2 tickets for U2 with Ticketmaster in 7 minutes flat from the exact time of tickets going on sale, I have to ask why Frightfest tickets were so difficult. This year's company managing the online sales was supposed to be up to the job....far from it. My first ever serious winge about Frightfest and I'm an original 2000 ever-present Frightfester!

I'm starting to think it is just me know - 4 attempts and it just gets stuck on the seat picking page then 'cancel' just takes me back to the back of the queue. I don't know what to do if this attempt doesnt work, this is a really unpleasant afternoon - least the sleepy queue gave me an excuse to go shopping in London before heading back t'north!

Two observations I feel I'm now qualified to make on this year's ticket shambles:

1. Offer a backup method of buying tickets. I'm not even saying bring back the Sleepy Queue, but at least offer a phone line or something.
2. If an online booking system spills its guts about the error that occurred, no two ways about it- this is not a good booking system. No well-written software should be broadcasting the nature of the error to the end user because this is a serious security flaw that can offer insight into how the system can be hacked. As someone who's developed software professionally for nearly 20 years, I have little to no confidence in the code running behind this booking system.

Sorry guys- I know you're busting your asses to make this festival great and are doing an awesome job in every other way but I feel you really dropped the ball with both the choice of online ticket vendor and methods of booking.

I found just using the back button, pausing at the error screen, and then hitting back again worked to avoid re-queuing (on my third attempt!). I doubt it's an exact science but hopefully sharing will help you and others.

I don't resent a penny I pay for the ticket price, the FF boys and the festival itself deserves every bit of it (and it must be tough to keep the price as low as possible) but I'm really not happy about paying an additional 5% to the professional ticket company who presided over that mess, just on principal. If FF can get a refund and put it back into the festival I'd be happy with that.

OK, it was better than last year -- but that wasn't a specialist ticket agency getting paid to make it work.

*********************UNWANTED TICKETS FOR SALE********************

Due to the complete fiasco this afternoon I have ended up buying 6 tickets instead of 3. As such I now have 2 tickets for sale which I would preferably like to sell as a job lot. The seats are in Film 4 Screen Row B seats 5 and 6.
Please can you let me know if you are interested.

Thanks

Jason

Phew! After getting through then failing on the 'verified by visa' then starting again I've finally got a ticket! Or perhaps 2 if the other one went through  I'm off for a nice soothing cup of tea now after all that. I would like to say thank you as well tot he boys for sorting it out, I'm not complaining at you or the new system (which most people seem to have managed with) just the fear of not getting a ticket! See you all soon, let the count down begin! xxx

I also spent just under 3 hours trying to get tickets after being kicked out twice after adding tickets to my basket using Google Chrome. Then on 3rd attempt used Safari and bought them. but the missus panicked and bought some thinking I hadnt got any. Hence the advert above. What a nightmare.

I knew this would happen, the first attempt had gone through (despite saying it was the wrong visa password and giving me a 'time out' message) so I now have a very sick feeling and an unwanted second ticket. If anyone wants C20 in the Horror Channel screen please let me know, I really can't afford to pay for an extra ticket I won't use (though think that goes without saying cos who could?!). Thanks xxx
