Films for Frightfest August 2015
Re: Films for Frightfest August 2015
And yes there's always time in my FF schedule to do other things like shopping or a few hours photography.

Why do you say that? It's got nothing but very positive reviews so far:Kris wrote:Nina Forever I'm giving a wide berth to. Looks like it has potential but won't actually be any good.

Main dilemma for me was what to see instead of Hellions, was a choice between Worry Dolls or The Entity, opted for The Entity, hope I've made the right choice.
Pod or Landmine Goes Click also a tough one.

One of our guys reviewed it from Fantasia and was also very positive on it.Wolfshade wrote:Why do you say that? It's got nothing but very positive reviews so far:Kris wrote:Nina Forever I'm giving a wide berth to. Looks like it has potential but won't actually be any good.

I think I would have gone with Worry Dolls over The Entity. Since I heard Landmine Goes Click features a 3 minute rape scene I haven't been so keen, personally I'd go with Pod. What doesn't appeal about Hellions? I thought the trailer looked OK.Wolfshade wrote:Main dilemma for me was what to see instead of Hellions, was a choice between Worry Dolls or The Entity, opted for The Entity, hope I've made the right choice.

Once again I'm basing that on critical opinion, reviews pretty scathing so far:DJBenz wrote: What doesn't appeal about Hellions? I thought the trailer looked OK.

Plus all negative reviews on RT so far.
Re: Films for Frightfest August 2015
Can't argue with that. Subjectivity only goes so far before it becomes consensus.
Re: Films for Frightfest August 2015
I'm willing to give Hellions ago purely on the good faith the director has stored up with me from Pontypool.

Same here, however that was probably a one-off.LeighM wrote:I'm willing to give Hellions ago purely on the good faith the director has stored up with me from Pontypool.

Re: Films for Frightfest August 2015
Just out of interest, has anybody heard anything about "Curve"?
I took a leap of faith and went for that over "Bite".
Yeah, I know "Bite" is sold-out and everybody went mental over it, but I've seen a couple of last-minute bad reviews and to be honest I assumed it would be on DVD fairly shortly.
The premise of "Curve" intrigued me, it's a world premiere Blumhouse film, has a decent director and still has a 2016 US release date.
I have a feeling I may regret my choice, but I've been surprised by brilliant "sleepers" in the past at the fest.
Any body had a sneak-peek? (NB: Replies of "yeah, it's crap" will be ignored, probably)

Scherzo Diabolico or Summer Camp? Anyone know which one is good or better?
Ever drunk Bailey's from a shoe?
Re: Films for Frightfest August 2015
Thats a shame. I saw Nina Forever on Sunday evening in Hamburg and it was excellent and seemed to very well appreciated by the audience judging by the extended Q&A that followed. The Hallow, which I saw this evening, was also rather good.Kris wrote:Nina Forever I'm giving a wide berth to. Looks like it has potential but won't actually be any good. Opted for Last Girl Standing instead.
Some hard choices this year. Not seeing BAIT as DVD is 7th Sept.

Didn't like the look of THE ENTITY. POD doesn't appeal either.Wolfshade wrote:Why do you say that? It's got nothing but very positive reviews so far:Kris wrote:Nina Forever I'm giving a wide berth to. Looks like it has potential but won't actually be any good.

I'd concur with this decision. Haven't seen either, but Summer Camp looks more my taste.Kris wrote:I opted for SUMMER CAMP. Just ticks all the boxes for meSTun wrote:Scherzo Diabolico or Summer Camp? Anyone know which one is good or better?
