Willow Street
Enclosure
Night of something strange
My father die
Abattoir
The woods
Lederhosen zombies
Knucklebones
31
Train to Busan

There seem to be quite a few "home invasion" films this year...

  1. They Call Me Jeeg Robot - An spaghetti superhero movie, it has a solid IMDb rating of 7.8 with 2246 votes.
  2. The Woods - The premise of found footage in a forest seems the most played-out possible, yet Adam Wingard has directed it and a rave review from a critic at Bloody Disgusting about it "reinventing horror".
  3. Train to Busan
  4. Night of Something Strange - The description on the website makes me really want to see it.
  5. Attack of the Lederhosenzombies
  6. Abattoir - The Se7en meets Dark City description and the trailer intrigue me, though Bousman's direction has never risen above competent for me.
  7. We Are the Flesh - Apparently very gruesome and shocking.
  8. Broken - Alan has talked on Twitter about how this shook him up.
  9. The Love Witch - I like the technicolour visuals and the premise of pastiching 70s horror.
  10. Downhill - Premise of mountain-bikers and Lovecraftian horrors sounds good.

Ten? You want me to name ten?

The Woods, Broken and Train to Busan all seem very interesting. I'm looking forward to Pet, because I enjoy a bit of psychology in my horror and there are plenty of others that appeal but I've now entered my 'try to forget the details and stay away from spoilers for two months so everything is fresh and unexpected when it comes to the screenings in August' phase. Wow. That's a long name for a phase. I should make that title snappier.

Another stunning year of films with seemingly more clashes than ever, and lots of gems I've never heard of before. As such, my top 10 is ever rotating, but right now its at:

1. BEYOND THE GATES
2. THE WOODS
3. MY FATHER DIE
4. POPULATION ZERO
5. THE MASTER CLEANSE
6. PET
7. WE ARE THE FLESH
8. LET HER OUT
9. DIRECTOR'S CUT
10. DOWNHILL
