what are you reading?
Re: what are you reading?
hehe, this could get interesting...
I'd be much happier getting a comic book recommendation than a book recommendation to be honest (but then I've never been much of a book worm - always lacked the patience to really get into a good book, comic books are much more up my street) )

Re: what are you reading?
The last prose novel i read was the rather epic Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson, I absolutely loved it and would reccomend it to anyone who want's a book that'll last a good few weeks- It certainly took me a while to cut through it.
These days I just have so many movies and graphic novels to get through that I never find the time to get stuck into a good book.
I just read Kick-Ass ahead of seeing the film, i have heard, and certainly hope, it's better adapted than Wanted which bore little to no resemblance to the better and far darker book.

Dread Central recommends The Darkening as "one of THE scariest books I have had the privilege of reading so far this year."

The summer I died - Ryan c. Thomas , torture based short novel, believe me this book will stay with you, and not in good way. When you think it can't get any worse for them it does....so so much worse
Re: what are you reading?
I'm halfway through Lindqvist's Let The Right One In, and quite enjoying it.
Re: what are you reading?
I'm back onto the Harry Potter books but I am also ready a few different books on British murders and unsolved crimes. Depends on how I feel lol

Re: what are you reading?
Just finished Wrath James White's The Ressurectionist. Pretty f@cking sick stuff, I was very intrigued and couldn't put it down. Started reading Succulent Prey and I must say this is even worse. Was reading it at lunch time and had to stop reading it while eating as it is just too detailed, too sick, too f%cked up.
I've read quite a few horror books in my time but nothing has come close to the sickness and general feeling of unease as these books.
just bought the first 2 necroscope books of amazon, they seem pretty cool but I have to battle myself trough this WJW stuff first

You can't do nothing right, Cooper! You stupid sonofabitch! You should have been destroyed at birth! That's what I get for teaming up with a hippie!
Re: what are you reading?
Just finished Charlie Higson's teen version of 28 days later The Enemy. This might be marketed as teen fiction, but it's the most rip roaring straight up horror novel I've read since The Strain. Higson doesn't stint on the gore and horror, and it outs most adult zombie type novels to shame. Great stuff.

Just about to start Twilight Watch after really enjoying Night and Day Watch. Hopefully it's as good as the previous two.
If you cut off my head, what would I say... Me and my head, or me and my body? What right has my head to call itself me?

Re: what are you reading?
Oh nice one, I have had The Enemy in my 'to read' pile since I bought it after the ad they aired at frightfest last year. Will line it up after I have finished 'Your heart belongs to me' - Dean Koontz that I am reading now.MaxRenn wrote:Just finished Charlie Higson's teen version of 28 days later The Enemy. Re: what are you reading?
An excellent choice, the appendix is astounding- i tried to read it after each chapter, but sometimes couldn't resist checking the providence of each plot development as it happened. An extremely academic book written by a true and comitted Ripperologist, "Alan Moore knows the score" as the PWEI song goes. The Davies wrote:Reading From Hell graphic novel at the mo. Enjoying reading appendix after every page.
It also shows just how wrong Jonny Depp was for the role of Abberline, that film was a mess.
I met Mr Moore and his partner Melinda Gebbie last year just before the Watchmen release, and not only did he answer my rambleing academic questions with a single succinct and elegant sentence, but also told me i had very cool hair!
I delighted in telling this to anyone who mocked the teddy boy/wolverine barnett i had worn for over 5 years, until one friend instantly responded by saying "Yes Bill...but look at his hair"
I bought clippers the next day.
(Top 10 is, in my oppinion, one of his most underated titles, or if you're loveing the black and white period stuff, The Ballad of Halo Jonesis awesome retro sci-fi, and DR and Quinch is still great for laughs- The success of Watchmen and V for Vendetta make it easy to forget that he's also capable of being gut wrenchingly funny. I fucking love Alan Moore)

Re: what are you reading?
I've just started Justin Cronin's epic vampire apocalypse novel The Passage, already it has its hooks in deep. It reads like The Stand if written by Cormack McCarthy
