The keeper of all things that taste forgot, Nicola Clements will be blogging about anything & everything from T-shirts to bags to music soundtracks, books, novelties, film posters & banners and throwing in her own thoughts along the way.
8th June 2008.
Welcome back readers new & old to my movie junk, its been a while since my last blog & in that time, decorating has been done rabbits have been born and doomsday has been & gone & just like buses when there’s not one blog for ages, you can always bank on a few to arrive all at once.
Now looking firmly ahead for the tickets for FF the line up and the rest of the summers blockbusters and what goodies they will turn out.
There must be other banner collectors out there; maybe it’s all about size? Bigger is always better, or is it the eye-catching artwork in huge multiplexes that does it for me? But they still look just as good at home on walls as they do in cinemas.
There has been a mixed bunch of goodies come my way of late, some good, some bad, some down right mediocre. Iron man hasn’t had many goodies about, but I picked up a banner from a cinema, that hadn’t the room for it.
AVPR may not have been the best of films for a franchise but Fox marketing pulled out all the stops on items for it, Four different cinema posters, two banners of the creatures, T-shirt, digital watch, cap, notepad, car transfers, and many other items check out the banner images, hanging on my walls.
I am often asked where do I get the room for banners, well I hang them as large pieces of film art, although they aren’t intended as domestic use, they do look good on walls.
Scouring through a well-known auction site can turn up some good finds,
A haul of over thirty banners, posters & goodies, I had to travel to pick these up but amongst the less desirable items were some rare items, but always nice to see im not the only girl who collects movie junk.
A V for Vendetta banner, world trade center, United 93,lex Luther from superman, Zorro, The Return, King Kong, & heaps of children’s banners, and worst of all the break up, you me and Dupree, & rumour has it.
One of the most surprising items I found was a ghost rider lenticular board, & if you ever wonder why you haven’t seen one of these, in cinemas, most likely they get squirreled away by managers and don’t make the display boards as they are collectors items, but look at the pics I took.
Posters & banners judging by Doomsday I am not the only person who collects them, still im waiting to get my hands on the Hellboy series of banners and the Dark Knight posters & banners but those are going to be so collectable probably the most collectable of all the batman films, sadly because of the unfortunate and all to early death of Heath Ledger.
In a year of superhero films, Iron Man, the hulk, The Dark Knight, Hancock, Hellboy2, that’s a lot of posters & banners going round.
If your ever curious about who’s using what gun and in which film? Check out www.imfdb.org It has a database of films, tv & games and what guns were used in them.
