Yep, we're still in Cannes and everything is winding down here...

The Croisette is less busy than last year and the market is pretty quiet as well. Most of the American companies we were expecting to meet here haven’t travelled over and everyone is cutting costs and choosing the healthier (read cheaper) option in dining, accommodation etc. and so have we. Alan has made some marvellous Pasta Bolognese and the sandwich section of the local super market has become very familiar.

The Cannes Film Market officially ends tomorrow, but all the sales agents are pretty much packing up today and most of the buyers have already gone home. Only a few hopeful filmmakers are around approaching the remaining companies hoping to be picked up, optioned or attached to different projects. Quite depressing actually…

It has been the worst market for years and it really is a buyers game here. Prices of the products have never been lower and it’s sad to see films being sold for peanuts when people have put their hearts and souls into these films, which will never recoup nor see any profit. Very sad.

The film that most perplexed me was THIRST, I really enjoyed Christopher Smith’s TRIANGLE and the most intriguing trailers I watched were AND SOON THE DARKNES and Eli Roth’s production COTTON. I can’t wait to see the completed films.

Now we are off to the infamous FantasticFest karaoke party at the American beach pavilion and the party notoriously might last until the dusk so I had better grab the bull by the horns and head to the last night of Cannes mayhem.
