So here we go again .. as Ian previously reported we had a fairly subdued first night catching up with worldwide friends at Colin Geddes (Mr Midnight Madness) industry drinks at the excellent Musa club. Up and early for the first press and industry screening of the eagerly awaited by many JENNIFER'S BODY.

The film zipped along at a cracking pace and although aimed squarely at the EMO teen brigade it does feature some good performances and at least delivers a few cheap sexy gory thrills hence its admirable R rating. Megan Fox plays the slutty, vampy lead well enough and a true geekgasm moment occurs two thirds of the way through in a lesbianic sequence with her wearing a very tight EVIL DEAD t shirt in front of a poster of the same film.

It's now time for Diablo Cody to move on from the hipper than thou dialogue previously displayed in JUNO so that she can prove that she's more than a one trick pony.

The film attempts to achieve the teen zeitgeist displayed in HEATHERS but it never really gets there.

Also caught up with THE FINAL DESTINATION the latest in the assembly line of pointless sequels in this franchise. Essentially the same film as before but with added 3D effects. The faux shock sequences that aren't soon become tiresome and you end up just hoping that someone, somewhere will make a 3D fright flick with a really good script. We can but hope!

The next couple of days are chock full of want to see items including the Spierig brothers DAYBREAKERS, Joe Dante's THE HOLE (yes, in 3D again) Nicolas Winding Refn's barbarian epic VALHALLA RISING and Michael Bassets sword and sorcery fable SOLOMON KANE. And that folks is just the tip of the iceberg..

Here's hoping for some good cinema going!

Until the next time…..

Paul.
