If anyone is thinking of attending "The Horror Of Writing" event there's been an update (got my email this morning...)
Please note that the start time is 11am sharp (no entrance once the event has commenced) and not noon as previously stated.
Less sleep, but I might get to see David Hess play some tunes on a borrowed guitar after Smash Cut now

try emailing them for more info/forms.

info@jpegfilms.com

I'm wondering how legitimate the whole thing is, Jpeg Films doesn't even appear to have it's own website, and I can only find mention to it on the FrightFest website... It's also slightly worrying that even if you don't "win" the competition they can still use any ideas they like from your submission, without any credit being given.

Yes, I had those very same concerns actually. I'm sure that if FrightFest is affiliated with it they're not going to be too dodgy but it's better not to stake weeks of work on an assumption really huh?

I would hope so. I'm still undecided as to whether or not to enter.

I think it is still worth entering to be honest. Any work is not going to be wasted and ideas are just that- ideas. It is the writer who shapes them, mould them and makes them beautiful (or hideous!).

Personally, I would rather risk it and stand a chance at winning than play it safe and not stand that chance. Of course I still understand your reservations however!

(Oh and thanks for the info, DavieT!)

They want a 2-3 page treatment based loosely around the following:

The Tower of London has a ceremony of the keys: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceremony_of_the_Keys, whereby the Tower is locked every night.

A group of kids get locked in...

I have the form etc emailed to me - can email it out, if someone can upload it somewhere?

Is the winner of this competition still being announced at the allnighter on Saturday?
