Skinwalkers

Post by AdeBrown »

Well that was nothing much.
Reminded me of that TV ghost series Supernatural.
An overblown "he is the Golden Child" story, poor werewolf make up, and a very cliched "Bad Wolf" team taken from the Near Dark meets Underworld shelf of the straight to video library.

Would love to be able to say that this was an enjoyable piece of high quality crafted cinema.

Instead this is the first film in my three frightfests that I actually got up and left after about 45 mins. I certainly wasn't the first.

Adebrown has it spot on as Near Dark meets Underworld sort of rip-off, only much much worse.

Did ask a few people the next day and apparently it didnt get any better in the part i missed.

Shame that as I like a good werewolf flick.

jonbly didn't entirely hate this movie. And that may be the most positive review it ever gets...

The rules of the skinwalkers are never made clear... since guns hurt them, they aren't really that scary (it's possible that everyone is using silver bullets throughout, of course, and the only clear kills we see are head shots).

It certainly lacks any characters to really pull the viewer into the movie.

4.5/10

I waited for an age fot this. I love monster movies for their practical effects work and the mythology of the old universal movies......

I walked out after 40 minutes, something I havn't done for over 15 years. Utter tripe......a sad end to the day!

The only film of the weekend that I didn't watch in full. I gave it 35 minutes before giving up on it. I did enjoy watching the vast number of people that left though, I've never seen anywhere near that many people walk out on a film before.

28 mins before i walked out. The acting, cgi and set pieces had me in stitches.

Still better than Postal though

Well I left after 30mins and joined the exodus into the night. Found it very slow going. A bit of a shame that!

Audiencewalkers more like!

I've never seen so many people trickle out of a FF screening.

30mins in and I knew it wasn't going to get any better - exactly the same kind of PG-13 fantasy/horror stuff that The Covenant, Blood & Chocolate, Ultraviolet have done before, with appalling dialogue and lots of dodgy CGI.

Was amused to bump into at least four other forum regulars in the foyer who'd come to the same conclusion!

Stayed in but it seems ultimately straight-to-DVD trash, kinda fun at times but as said before derivative and doesn't take anything close to the potential of its concept. Although Near Dark and Underworld were ripped off tonally (and in the bar scene as well), the main thrust of the plot felt more like a ripoff of Terminator 2 with werewolves instead of future robots!

I can't believe how many people left this half way through! I have NEVER walked out of a film before but I was just suffering too much. I came back in briefly to try and rescue Laymonite but he was determined to enjoy it...fool.

I had to leave, as I was falling asleep. I would say that [1] if I hadn't nodded off several times I'd have stayed until the end, and that [2] what I saw of it looked good enough for me to see it again on DVD sometime.

Maybe being shown straight after Waz didn't help it?

I sat all the way through but I never really got into it. Nothing I can put my finger on, just everything seemed uninspiring. I can't even raise the energy to dislike it; I 'nothing' it.
