I missed the Irish kung fu, but Death on a Rainy Sunday was almost excellent, let down by some slack pacing in the first half, and the hideous sub Lionel Richie 80s pop music. Overall though it was a tense and nasty home invasion film with a believable plot, superior production values and excellent use of modernist architecture to create menace. Hard to believe such a slick and glossy thriller never got a UK release. It's ripe for a remake.

Yeah, Death on a Rainy Sunday was great - you could really see the Inside influence throughout - I didn't mind the pacing, but for me there were a few implausibility issues. And the music was an hilarious disctraction, although it did mess with the tension towards the end.

Fatal Deviation was just a hoot from start to finish - it's the Birdemic of Kung-Fu movies!

They both sound brilliant! I will definitely have to try and track them down, although something tells me that these are gonna be near impossible to get hold of :-)

What I liked about the music in Death On A Rainy Sunday, is that no matter how bad it is, it doesn't manage to spoil the rest of the film, the film is so good that it holds up against those terrible inserts of the signing in the studio. It is very Lionel Ritchie like though.

And everyone has to love Fatal Deviation, the main guy James Bennet is still doing stunts in films, he can't act but his is good at martial arts. - ALEX.

Just in case anyone actually wanted them, here are the lyrics to those fantastic songs featured in the amazing 'Death On A Rainy Sunday' - Alex.

RAINY DAY
Rainy day, looking through my window pane
I don’t feel the same as I did before you came
You were the sunshine of my lonely day
Without you life is just a passing faze
Oh rainy day, lighter than a heavy sky
And I wonder why you don’t want to share my life
You were the sunshine of my lonely day
Without you life is just a passing faze
I’m holding on, a lonely town, a lonely people and I’m all alone with me
Strangers all around me, not a friendly face that smiles
Coming to an empty house, I’m a stranger to myself,
Rainy day, maybe now you’ll stay away
And I wonder why, you and I can’t be in peace
You were the sunshine of my lonely days
Without you life is just an empty space

STOP THE BOAT
Stop the boat, I’ve had enough
Stop the boat, I just want to get off
Stormy nights, on the bridge of sighs
You can fight, I don’t want to hear lies
Anchor down, in the nearest port
Any town, doesn’t matter what sort
Stop the boat, this is much too rough
Stop the boat, I just want to get off
I just want to stop the sound of your angry voice (your angry voice)
I just want to stop this trip with this ugly noise (oooh)
I don’t want to be around on these stormy days
Thunder craze, lightning faze
I just want...

I’LL WALK AWAY
I’ll walk away, I‘ll start a new day
This time I’ll say there’s a way to keep you inside
I’ll still go on, I’ll sing a new song
I want to keep your love
I’m walking away, just walking away
But I’ll never leave my love, it’s the only love I’ve found
I’m walking away, don’t care what they say
But my love will live forever in my mind
Ooooooooooooooooooh, ooooooooooooooh, oooooooooooooh
There’s hope for us, there’s hope to be found
This time I’ll pray for away to keep you inside
I’ll still go on, I’ll sing a new song
I want to keep your love
I’m walking away, just walking away
But I’ll never leave my love, it’s the only love I’ve found
I’m walking away, don’t care what they say
But my love will live forever in my mind
Ooooooooooh, ooooooooooh

Here's the full details of the next Duke night:

The Duke Mitchell Presents: Andrew Kam Night - The Unknown King of Hong Kong Action

Monday 28th June 2010

Doors Open 7PM - Films Start 8PM - Night Ends 11PM

FREE ENTRY

Throughout the 80’s , Hong Kong cinema has produced some of the most legendary actions films ever made – with some iconic directors such as John Woo and Tsui Hark becoming the stylish kings of the genre.

But there is one figure, one lonely figure whose pizzazz, whose madness, whose over-the-top set pieces outdoes all the rest.

Ladies and Gentlemen, The Duke is proud and excited to present an entire night dedicated to the unknown and under-appreciated KING of Hong Kong Action Cinema – Andrew Kam.

Come and join in the celebration of a man who can’t stop the explosions and the blood-letting even in dream sequences. Join us as we present ‘Fatal Termination’ – a heroic bloodshed piece equally brilliant and jaw-dropping – one reviewer comments about the film: ‘It has stunts that some viewers may argue go too far’.

Also making an appearance will the usual suspects: An entire trailer trash dedicated to the Hong Kong action genre, our beloved quiz, a marvellous short , music and gallery.

So make sure you head down the The Duke’s cinema on the 28th of June 2010 – it might very well be the only chance you’ll ever get to see this on the big screen!

Hi everyone, this is Alex again (my own account still remains in some strange frozen limbo for some reason).

Last night was a blast and featured possibly the most dangerous, stupid and irresponsible stunt scene we've ever shown! Thanks to everyone who made it down, we thought it might be empty due to the hot weather but the place packed out!

The Duke will return on Monday 26th July with our The Expendables tribute 80s Action Night!
