Sadly we didn't win the Hobo With A Shotgun trailer competition, but it was great to get into the top 5 and we'd like to say a huge thanks to everyone who voted for us!

Here's the info about the next Duke night:

The Duke Mitchell Film Club presents:

Music Business Night

Wednesday 27th April 2011

Doors Open 7PM - Films Start 8PM

The Duke turns his attention the cutthroat world of the music business with a night dedicated to struggling bands, dodgy managers and rip-off record companies.

Our main feature for the night is the little seen 1987 Paul Schrader directed ‘Light Of Day’ starring the amazing team up of Michael J. Fox and Joan Jett. This under-rated music drama follows the fortunes of struggling small town brother and sister who wants to make it with their band The Barbusters, but this being a Schrader film you now things aren’t going to quite work out for the best.

We’ll also have all our regular extras for the night, all with a music theme, including our always popular vintage Trailer Trash, a fantastic short film you’ve never seen, a dodgy quiz, great music all night and much, much more.

So sign on the dotted line and come along for a night out with The Duke!

Hi everyone, here's the info on our next night, do come along as Evrim always picks the most amazing short films to show, you're certain to see some incredible films on the night.

The Duke Mitchell Film Club Present: Too Long For The Duke!

Wednesday 25th may

Doors Open 7.00 p.m.

Programme Starts 8.00 p.m.

Seeing as it's his 30th Birthday and the fact that he complains incessantly, The Duke has decided to hand the reins for one night only to its' mysterious mastermind Evrim Ersoy.

For one night only Evrim will be presenting The Duke with all the short films he never got to play: expect some of the most unusual , breath-taking and too damn long for The Duke shorts ever: from horror to romance, from Japanese madness to Cronenberg ingenuity, Evrim has things up his sleeve even The Duke is slightly wary off.

But that's not all: the trailers , the music , hell even the end will be one-of-a-kind experience all bringing forth the hidden side of The Duke.

So on May 25th, make your way down to The Duke and help Evrim celebrate a milestone event with the weirdest, coolest and most unusual (as well as madness prone...) Duke program for a long while!

Hi everyone, great to see so many people out for the Sleepy Queue last week. Here's the info about the next Duke night.

The Duke Mitchell Film Club Presents: Pinky Violence Night

Wednesday 20th July 2011

Doors Open 7PM - Films Start 8PM

FREE ENTRY!

Proof that crazy gangs were not exclusive to the highways of USA and the seaside towns of old Blighty, The Duke presents a crazy, whacked-out, lsd-ridden, achingly stylish slice of Japanese Pinky Violence.

If you’ve never watched a Pinky Violence before let The Duke be your guide: Our film this month is Girl Boss Revenge – set in a 70’s Japan where tougher than tough girl gangs roam the streets, eking out justice for wrongs done to them!

But if that stylized bag of violence wasn’t enough, The Duke has also dug deep for some of the grooviest sounds this side of Toei, the kind of trailers that you mothers would hate for you to see, delirious shorts, a quiz and much, much more...

So grab your flick-blade, expose the yakuza tattoo on your back, round-up your gang and visit the Duke for a throw-down of the Oriental kind!

Hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year, here are the details for the first Duke Night of 2012!

The Duke Mitchell Film Club Presents: Paranormal Documentaries Night

The King's Cross Social Club, 2 Britannia Street, Kings Cross, WC1X 9JE

Wednesday 25th January - Doors at 7PM Films Start at 8PM FREE ENTRY!

The Duke starts of 2012 in our typically obscure style with a night dedicated to the strange, bizarre and hugely entertaining Paranormal Documentaries that were all the rage in the late 1970s and early 1980s. These quasi-documentaries are packed with bad re-enactments, questionable witnesses and a cavalier disregard for facts, which makes them perfect for the first Duke night of the year!

Our main feature for the evening is the 1982 documentary “The Jupiter Menace”, in which Duke favourite George Kennedy is our guide through a weird landscape that’s packed with religious re-enactments, strange vector computer graphics and a wild and completely over-the-top 70s Moog synthesiser score. It’s a must see!

We’ll also have all our regular supporting features, including Trailer Trash, a short film, quiz, great music and much more, all with a Paranormal theme. So come along to the first Duke of 2012 and find out if we’re all going to die in 1982!

Here's the facebook event page for the night http://www.facebook.com/events/217706351649083/
