Rabies

Post by AdeBrown »

I can't really vote in the best discovery thread, as this was the only one I saw.

And it was excellent.
Covered several themes from the main screen much better than those other films did.

Very funny dialogue, likable cast (even the unlikable character!) and a very subtle joke underlying the whole story.

Apologies I had to run out immediately before the Q&A, I hope the directors (sat on my left) heard me laughing and applauding.

This was a good film and I enjoyed it a lot.

I did like the spin put on the stalker/slasher idea and the play with the title, as talking to people who hadn't seen it, did indeed assume it was would be a flat out splatter fest.

I wasn't entirely sure what to make of this one - I found it interesting, which sounds like damning with faint praise, I know. I didn't hate it, but I don't think it's a great film either.

*** Spoilers ***

Thought this would be more of an outright comedy and may feature rabies, but I was wrong on both counts. It is however a very good slasher with a difference that mixes up expectations of the genre, whilst also having a political and social subtext. But it is still bloody enjoyable fun! As well as having a heart, this packs an emotional punch and overall exceeded my expectations. 8.5 / 10
No tears, please. It's a waste of good suffering.

Awesome little film. Although not sure it really worked as a comedy - the laughs stopped after a while. To echo a comment elsewhere - this should have been on the main screen.

Probably my favourite film of the weekend; funny, moving, shocking and completely unpredictable. Like the Coen Brothers directing a re-make of Mario Bava's 'Bay of Blood'. In Israel. Fantastic.

And, next to the tremendous Larry Fessenden, the 2 directors were the best guests of the weekend; charming, modest, intelligent and full of fascinating insight into the making of their film.

one of my favorites over the weekend.

i don't get why was it pitched as a slasher, as it has more to do with say Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance with Coen Bros overtones. but I really liked it.

have to agree, that directors were absolute spot on at Q&A.
