Andy Nyman's Quiz from Hell
Andy Nyman's Quiz from Hell
During the "Who Am I and What is my Film?" round, one of the films was Lord of Illusions, but can anyone tell me who the actor was? I didn't get to see the answers round, so missed out on it. Gave me a little moment of pride, because the quote he read out was from my site.

If i remember right I think it was Scott Bakula (of Quantum Leap fame). Although I was feeling quite sleep deprived by then so I might have just imagined it.DJBenz wrote:During the "Who Am I and What is my Film?" round, one of the films was Lord of Illusions, but can anyone tell me who the actor was? Hmmm. Seems like the sleep deprivation is still there seeing as others have already answered this before me! Doh!The Aylmer wrote:If i remember right I think it was Scott Bakula (of Quantum Leap fame). If it's carrying on next year, the quiz needs to be spruced up. I'm sure the music round has been almost the same for the last 3 years as have the poster/tagline mashups.
It seems very lazy from a professional quiz production outfit......

Re: Andy Nyman's Quiz from Hell
Much of the music round was new (at least three of the films featured weren't released at last year's fest) though some tracks were repeated from earlier quizzes. That said, it again annoyed me when Friday The 13th came up as the answer when that piece of music is from Part III.
We managed all the trivia, got 9/10 on the posters and taglines, but it was the other two rounds that killed us.

That bloody music round. We got Phantasm though, thanks to one of our new-to-FrightFest friends! I think we got about a third of the music overall. It kills us every time...

I'm wait every year for the inclusion of 'Power of The Night' from Critters in the music round, but have not yet had the satisfaction of it's inclusion. It's the best power ballad from a horror film

Thanks for your comments on this year's quiz. First up, I can assure you that the poster/tagline mashup round was completely new! Only the example question gets repeated (Dawn of the Dead+I Spit On Your Grave).
When it comes to the music round, I do re-use several classic horror films (after all, there are only so many VERY famous theme tunes, and we like to have something for the non-experts in the audience - like Candyman, Exorcist, Psycho etc) however I make sure that I use either different tracks or at least different lengths of the track to increase/decrease the difficulty. But most of the tracks were new. As another poster pointed out, several films weren't even out last year, let alone 4 years ago when we made the first Quiz from Hell!
Cheers

Re: Andy Nyman's Quiz from Hell
Yeah for Friday the 13th we used a track from Part III (Andy did specify this as the answers played) but we put "Friday the 13th" on the screen to show that we accepted Friday the 13th as the answer for this. Normally we're pretty strict on the exact film but for this one we made an exception!streetrw wrote:Much of the music round was new (at least three of the films featured weren't released at last year's fest) though some tracks were repeated from earlier quizzes. PS: excellent score on the mashups round ;-)

Always glad to get suggestions. Like I said above, there are only so many famous horror film themes so I do try and add variety whenever I get!Critter Egg wrote:I'm wait every year for the inclusion of 'Power of The Night' from Critters in the music round, but have not yet had the satisfaction of it's inclusion. But you wouldn't accept Hellraiser for Hellbound even though they're the same piece of music, just reorchestrated!

Re: Andy Nyman's Quiz from Hell
Appreciate the feedback and points taken ! I guess I just felt that the format was getting a bit over-familiar....but then I might just be saying that as I get nowhere near the top 10 each year !
