What a lovely unassuming film this was.
Cracking performances by all (even the Rab C Nesbitt-a-likes and definitely James Nesbitt) but especially the two central characters.

Only narrowly pipped by tonight's Monsters for fave so far (in a very strong field) but considering the budgets etc, Outcast is well worth checking out.

Glad to hear that, saw a test screening of this along with some other FrightFest regulars about a year ago and it looked promising. Katie Dickie is superb in it.

I really enjoyed how 'Outcast' transplanted it's Celtic magic and mythology into a really grimy urban setting; this brought to mind various Clive Barker stories. The bit where the guy freaks out after having sex and turns into a fang faced Incredible Hulk was one of my favorite scenes from any film at this years festival.

I didn't fancy the short film showcase, so I took a chance and went to see Outcast, turned out to be a good choice, because I loved this - absolutely brilliant, this was probably in my top 3 of the weekend (along with Bedevilled and Dream Home).

The dingey council estate setting really suited it, in terms of the setting and the theme, the film reminded me a lot of Heartless from last year and The Dissappeared from 08, but it was much better than both of those. Thought James Nesbitt was great in this - maybe he should play more edgy characters and be in less sitcoms!

I think this really should have been on the main screen, as it was much better than the majority of the main screen films, but I guess there was probably a reason for it being on the Discovery Screen.

An intriguing fable, mixing fantasy with a council estate, a hunt and a monster on the prowl. A good performance by the young female lead, and the story was a little different to usual, but the identity of the beast was no surprise and not all will appreciate the fantasy elements. I liked it though. 7 / 10
